what does the public think of self-driving vehicles?

We surveyed 1034 members of the public to find out what they think of self-driving vehicles. Our research is enabling us to understand the barriers to adoption and what future services should look like.

D-RISK survey data shows that almost four in ten (37.8%) believe that self-driving vehicles will be safer than human driven vehicles, and 37% feel that they can trust self-driving vehicles.

But there were real differences in how different groups view the safety of self-driving vehicles.

People aged 55 and over were statistically significantly more likely than younger people to not trust autonomous vehicles, nor did they believe that autonomous vehicles can be safer than human driven vehicles.
